Faulty Fuel Gauge only in low temperature

Hi Guys,

I've had my disco 3 for 15 months and a couple of months after I bought it last december in the bad snow the fuel gauge started playing up going from a range of approx 400 miles down to 5 miles and tank pointer dropping to zero and orange light coming on.

After switiching on and off it never happended again until the last few days when Ive been having loads of fun in the northumberland snow. Again range drops and pointer on gauge drops to bottom and fuel light comes on. Its happpened about 7-8 times over the last 5 days.

Is this a common fault/easy fix as going in for a service next week?

Cheers

JonnyL

Come on guys,

Somebody somewhere must have had this fault or at least a fuel gauge fault?

When my fuel tank is quarter of a tank and below, if I park on a slope facing downwards with the engine running, when I come back to it the gauge will read 0, the tank range will read 0 and the light is on. After about 15-20 minutes driving, the gauge gradually returns to what it was before.

A new fuel tank has been ordered for my car as the senders that they want to replaceare plastic welded onto it and can't be ordered seperately, just waiting for it to come into stock now.

cheers

Hi Jonny,
Experienced a similar problem this morning with ambient temp down to minus 15c. Gauge reading correctly at 3/4 full, mpg showing 28.5 but range is showing 120 miles. Vehicle is 2006 and never experienced problem before today. Also noticed that dash lights would only work with headlight switch on, turn switch to sidelights only and all dash lights went out.
