...I did the same "upgrade" on my old Patrol and the beam pattern was SO bad that you actually see less than before +I get flashed all the time
Are you sure that the beam pattern is good? Before drilling holes in my new headlamps, I'd really like to know this.
Oh, legal or not? See, I'm in Zimbabwe and I couldn't care less.... Laughing

I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

So if I understand correctly you need to sit down and explain the car that it has new eyes now and that you kindly beg it to accept them?
Do they really need to be activated by a dealer??? Rolling Eyes

Does the Disco4 have a projector or a reflector headlight?

Are these HID upgrades Bi-Xenon, that is for low beam as well as for high beam?

The xenons will flicker for a couple of seconds on startup unless the car is configured to provide the extra juice needed for the clearn spark-up. Once lit, all good. Thumbs Up

And you would honestly say that they are an improvement over the oem halogen headlamps? (Again, is it projector or reflector, no idea!)
Africa is a daaaaaark place at night and I'm considering ordering the additional driving lights and turn all front light into HID - would that work? Shocked

The Xenons are absolutely an improvement - I won't go back to halogen. HID driving lamps will also make it one hell of a bright place.

regs for aftermarket Hids

Hi
All aftermarlet Hid kits or xenons are illegal as they dont confirm to the regs as posted this is because the headlamps are given an E mark with standard bulbs and the optics inside the headlamp are maximised to use ordinary bulbs the problem with most kits is the glare factor which has already been mentioned, I would not buy any cheap ones as you definately get what you pay for.
I have however a friend who is an MOT inspector and we have tested a few kits from cheap to expensive and the beam pattern was decidedly better on the more expensive ones and there was no glare.
I have a set of Hids from HIDS4U 55 watt xenon kit and there is no glare and the beam pattern is the same as OE, but as previously said a keen eyed copper or MOT tester could tell you to get them changed as they dont meet the lighting regs bit of a contradiction as I would say they are a safety improvement.

cheers
