power steering problems?
Headed off to the South Australian Caravan show as an exhibitor with the D3 and newly renovated offroad van in tow - was planning on doing a shake down trip into the Flinders Ranges after the show. Got (from Wangaratta) to Bendigo for lunch 2 hr trip - D3 wouldn't start - even with triple batteries and Drivesafes magic gear under the hood. Called the RACV said it was starter motor - towed D3 and van to depot and got my work van delivered by a mate and reloaded for the 8 hour next stage. Returned 4 days later and it was fixed for a princely some of $1,100.00
Next morning headed off from Bendigo and the steering felt really stiff - got it home - didn't improve at all.
So now have a steering problem - ANY IDEAS??
Have been driving a real lot in deep water over the last 6 months as we have been flooded in 5 times - I think the water is taking it toll on the D3
Any help would be appreciated

That could well be the steering link Universal Joint. A squirt of WD40 or lubricating oil of some sort shoiuld sort it temporarily, but needs replacing before it gets too bad. Bodsys Brake Bible

worked real well, WD'd it a couple of times and took it for a spin between doses. Another one tonight and in the morning and she'll be as good as new - ready for a 4 hr trip tomorrow.
This sort of help from you, at midnight our time was fantastic. A real credit to 'forumism' and the willingness to help out others for no recompense (I guess that means I've now reneged on the free drink) Well done all you 'forumites'.
Bodsey I've sent your instructions to my mechanic in Melbourne and he's wrapped in the info. It'll save some time I'm sure in the fix.
Well done.
On another point, I've just had a Starter motor replaced - see the first post of this thread. When I went to pick the vehicle up the Co said it was harder to do than first anticipated and added on another $200.00 labour onto the quoted price. I very calmly let them know that that is what a quote is all about AND that a forum memeber said that 1.5 hours was the allowable time to remove and replace a starter motor. I paid an extra $40.00 as the best price they could do and was content.
So you see - 'forumism' is actually all about empowering us 'forumites'
