I was going to ask this last night, but I found the answer with a multi-meter. So I thought I'd post the info for others.
Been a dim witt bargain hunter, I snapped up a tow bar wiring kit on ebay to find it was a US Spec connector on it, so I was going to ask if it could be re-wired. The answer is yes.
Where the tow harness plugs in inside the access panel in the boot, there are 2 sockets. On the UK Spec model the 4 pin socket in the back -
1 3
2 4
1 Unused
2 Left Indicator
3 12v
4 Right Indicator
The 6 Pin
1 3 5
2 4 6
1 Brake
2 Fog
4 Reverse
6 Tail Lights
So on the US Harness I bought move to of 2 pins in the 6 Pin connector, rewire the external connecor to a UK 7 Pin, and Voila Working Towing Electrics.
The interesting thing though is alot of people on the coming months\years are going to be faced with wiring up 13pin Euro towing connectors that need a reverse line. Well now you know which pin to connect.
I suspect from the towing harness I had that pin 3 is the electric brake used on some American Vehicles.
Hope this helps some folks, with my first post.
