What is the slotted thing to the left of the steering column |

What is the little Square slotted thing to the left of the steering column for ?
Looks like a pound coin holder but not.
Had it in my D3's also..

I think the sensor for the climate control is behind it.

Yup, it's the vent leading to the interior temp sensor for the climate control LRs are a fond memory, apart from the maintenance.

The bigger mystery is, what's the part number/descriptor for the flexible hose that connects to the back of it - even TLO failed to find it
...and it weren't for the lack of trying LRs are a fond memory, apart from the maintenance.

does that mean there is another one hidden on the passenger side for the other air con zone? and in the rear for those with a rear zone? D3 2.7 TDv6 HSE, 2005 in silver.

not to the best of my knowledge, at leat I never found or looked for one. LRs are a fond memory, apart from the maintenance.

There is no need for any other ambient temp sensors in the cabin as the controls for the various areas just allow passengers to vary the temp around that one sensor reading 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021
