Land Rover button on remote.

i got my disco in september and the land rover button was programmed to switch headlights on and off i pressed it earlier to turn the lights on and it popped the boot?? i know this button can be used for different things but why has it just suddernly changed and is it easy to put it back as being able to do the lights is much more useful than popping the boot.

I think you flash the headlights while holding the landrover button down to reprogram the lights function, or something like that. Managed to reset mine at the weekend. Search on here and the proper answer will be found. Thumbs Up

The other option is to pop the boot by doing some form of sequence. Not sure what it is but manage to do it accidently every six months or so.

I've done this a few times ....don't ask how Rolling Eyes .....to return it to the headlamp mode, just press and hold the lower button while flashing the headlamps ...you should hear a chime if you've been successful. Thumbs Up

I think key in ignition first, then out then flash headlights while holding button.

Fob is easily programmed to the rear tailgate by holding land-rover button down whilst opening tailgate. I can easily do this by opening tailgate with remote fob in the same hand and as I crush everything together in my fat hand to do so the 3rd button gets clicked. It's actually easier to program it this way than with holding the lock/unlock buttons on the dash as per (some) car manuals.

I actually prefer mine set to open the tailgate; means I can open the boot and load it up without unlocking the doors and that means the car stays 'asleep' whilst the FBH timer is pre-heating the car...

Hey it's late Rolling Eyes Laughing ....here's what the book says

Quote:
PROGRAMMING THE REMOTE
CONTROL
The Land Rover button on the remote control
can be programmed to operate any one of the
following functions:
• Panic alarm.
• Headlamp courtesy delay.
• Air suspension control.
The currently-programmed feature will be
activated when the reprogramming sequence
is started.

The button is disabled when the key is in the
ignition switch.

Press and hold the Land Rover button and flash
the headlamps. A chime will confirm
successful programming.

A short press of the Land Rover button will turn
on the headlamps for the length of time
specified in Settings. See TRIP COMPUTER
(page 126).

A second press of the button after three
seconds, will deactivate the lamps.

Mine has done this a few times. No idea why. Battery checked and all ok (low voltage seems to confuse a D3's electronics).

Worth keeping the spare programmed to the boot opener. If your lock goes dicky and only half opens, and therefore you need to pull the boot handle at the same time as pressing the unlock button on the centre console to open the boot door... you'll find it impossible to do in your own, unless of course you're Mr Tickle!
