Rear suspension has developed a life of its own!

Before I head in the direction of a large bill, any suggestions about a 2006 TDV6 that has an intermittent desire to extend the rear suspension to full height for no apparent reason? It can happen at any speed, once a day, ten times a day or not at all, just driving along and you get that strange sensation that someone has just tipped your seat forward as the back end of the car is up in the air, lasts for anything from a few seconds to maybe 30 seconds then drops down to level again. Strangely, this all happens without any bings, bongs or warning lights coming on! Confused
