ZA squeaky suspension & rattling |
|
I have been experiencing squeaky suspension & rattling noised on rough roads/terrain. The squeaking got worse after I cleaned the suspension after muddy off-roading. Prior to the 1st/ 2nd front suspension/ ball joints being replaced, I had the similar rattling noises at the front (which were then resolved).
Rattling from the rear this time, mostly (like a plaasbakkie) but the squeaks are all around ...
Any ideas as to the causes? Suspension bushes? (I am nearing100 km’s)… Solutions?
I am taking it in to LRCT for repairs soon. "None of Nature's landscapes are ugly so long as they are wild"

Could it be the mountings between the chassis and the body - I think DeonDef had this kind of issue. Search about this, and you may find the solution

Only had the front suspension bushes replaced a couple of times - if they go you can feel it on the steering when traveling very slowly over uneven terrain.
Rattling at the back turned out to be those flimsy sheets between the exhaust pipes and the spare wheel - I just ripped them out and the rattle was gone Erstwhile - D3 S '07. Dual battery system. Upgraded tow hitch. Mantec skid plate. Frontrunner rr. Tmax double headed built in compressor

Have had the same. Dealer told me suspension parts not covered by warranty, and that they would have to change the entire front arms, not just bushes.
Got prices from TLO in UK, ready to order, then a friend recommended to change the bushes - did that and now back to a quiet ride.
Proper pi55ed off by LRSA though.

Jonty - AFAIK they swop out the arms cos they can get the job done quicker than if they removed the arms, did the bushes and then reinstalled. it should be the same price

All being sorted out by Cape Town LR under extended warranty car feels great, sofar. Last parts go in next week. Bushes and suspension components replaced with front diff and complete rear suspension. steering feels tighter and response is great, some other whines from diff now gone, etc.

Good news AP! I don't understand how one dealer (mine) can say that suspension is not covered by warranty, and another can get the work done. Who is your extended warranty with?
@Baben- they wanted to charge me something ridiculous for the arms, more than double what they cost in the UK.
