Disco 3 Commercial - Aux Audio plug
Hi
I've got a 2007 Commercial which has the Land Rover 400 Audio system.
There is an Aux setting on the output list on the system but no input socket anywhere to be found?
Does anybody know what the wiring for the Aux Audio plug at the back of the centre console (no plug on the Commercial) looks like? I am hoping that LR will have fitted the wiring but not the input socket
If not how easy is it to access the back of the Audio Unit?
The chances are that the wiring form the back of the console to the audio unit is not there as built , only a few early D3's appear to have been fitted with this before LR started to rationalise on loom according to spec. of vehicle.
Search the site for Aux input as there is a very good post which will guide you how to install an aux connection and how this goes direct into the back of your current low line 400 LR unit - if you want more from your audio the contemplate a retro install of an aftermarket unit like this:
The AUX input at the back of the audio unit currently goes to the passenger side panel (the bit of plastic behind the bonnet release). It terminates there in a plug and is not connected to anything. One of the modifications to enable aux input involves cutting wires at the plug there and soldering a 3.5mm socket.
I am positive that there is some wiring in the back of the centre console even for those models without the AUX input. However I'm not sure if the wiring is only for the Accessory socket or if there is also the audio. You might have to route audio cable to there.
There will be in all probability the wiring for the addition of the 12v power socket which will work once connected to the LR additional part you can add, fits where you will probably have currently a small open recess with a plastic insert to store odd items. The LR additional part comes with the aux jack built in to it along with the 12V socket but will not work as there is some wiring missing between the rear of the console and the audio unit .......
The links that Nighthawk has posted are really worth going through for the mod.......

My Aux input is a 3.5mm jack plug in the rear passengers centre console. Took me a while to realise is was there. I now have a 3.5mm jack to IPOD connector to play music through it.

The thick wire containing the red / blue / black is the aux input
blue /red = right / left
black = ground
Radio is very easy to remove ...you need to pull the H trim off around the radio / heater etc from the bottom on both sides ..then just a few torx screws hold the radio inG4 Gone ...but not forgotten

The air outlets do work on mine! Mine is an Irish commercial if it makes a difference. The air outlets work. You might need to open them with the thumbwheel. Mine were closed when I got it but once I turned the thumbwheel they opened and worked.
