Reprogramming folding mirrors |
|
Well the tintent towing season is nearly upon us.
But just thought of a related dilema with the new D4 and it's programmed folding mirrors.
When I attach the towing mirrors [which strap around the door mirror body], I surely won't be able to lock the vehicle without damaging something.
OK, I know I can have the mirrors reprogrammed not to fold, but I am getting used to them as it gives visual notice that you've locked the vehicle.
So just wondering:
A] Can they be programmed not to fold when the vehicle senses theres a trailer hitched up?
or
B] Can they be programmed to fold only on the second phase of the double lock feature?

Mirrors cant be reprogrammed to not fold. I asked my dealer, who checked with LR and they said "no ones ever mentioned that"
I think Buelbeast has done it with his Faultmate though. it was a bit fiddly i beleive
best to try and get mirrors that attach to the top of the D3 mirror Duncan

Pull the fuses for the mirror modules? 30 and 32 behind the glovebox I think.
It's likely to throw up a few comms errors as the mirror modules will be powered down, and you'll not have any mirror adjust, heating or puddle lights. 06 D3 SE / 15 LR D90 XS SW / 88 LR 90 Td5 / 68 BMW 2000 ti

but handbook states [p48]
"Mirrors can be configured by your LR dealer to automatically fold when the vehicle is locked"
So my assumption was that if you could programme to fold, you could programme to unfold.
Poss seeing Andy [buellbeast] later so will ask him what he did. ...... always on the road less travelled 🚧

I would imagine you can turn off the auto fold in the CCF for the D4 but I don't think you will be able to program the mirrors as you would like to re the fob button presses. Club N.E.R.D.s

reverse problem solution in winter so see if something like this works...
press lock then unlock in quick succession and door unlock without mirrors unfolding (in case frozen for example)
see what happens if you press unlock then lock in quick succession, they might not fold in. if you tow a lot may be best to get it de-activated as you thumb will hurt! XC90 T8 R Design Pro
