Mmh, if it's not approved for EU then I think I will give it a miss...
Towbars and the law
European Law now states that all light passenger vehicles registered on or after 1st August 1998 require a type approved towbar tested to EC94/20 and towball with suitable D&S value. This is not retrospective and does not affect any vehicle registered before this date. Other vehicles not subject to type approval are ~ commercial vehicles, car derived vans and motor caravans.
Fitment of a non type approved towbar on a vehicle registered on or after 1st August 1998 could result in prosecution and in the event of an accident the vehicles insurance could be invalidated. Andy

I can't answer about the EU certification. This (Rapid Hitch) is a US product and its US spec meets the Australian ADR standards. I would imagine it wouldn't take much research to see if those standards are the same as the EU standards.
In Australia and the US they tend to tow much larger loads so I would suspect the standards for tow hitches would be pretty high.
Yes it is fitted to a D4 hitch in the photo.
I have further modified my hitch for this coupling (below) This coupling takes a special pin and it is impossible for the coupling to come off the ball.

At first glance at the pic I thought someone had resurrected the powered coupling for the 101" FC there! A vaccine does not stop you catching a virus, or passing it on, or getting ill from it, really ill. It does reduce the likelyhood of you dying when really, really ill.
