Warranty Direct

With my LR Select Extended Warranty expiring at the end of the month and having covered over 100,000, so not eligible to renew, I'm considering my options.

Anyone got any comments to make (good or bad) on Warranty Direct or any other company?

Thanks,

LT

After my LR warranty expired last year, I went with Warranty Direct. They've been excellent. I've had an EGR and a turbo out of them without quibble. My cover runs out in a couple of weeks time, so it will be interesting to see if they quote me for another year, and if so what the price is. Last year it was £600 (car had done just over 50,000 miles at the time - 2005 D3).

Warranty UK have quoted £600 for two years, but I doubt whether the cover will be as good. Anyone had any experience of them please?

I would check the mileage with WD. There is a cut off.

Warranty Wise looks good and will probably be who I go with next.

Our 'Select' warranty has also just expired and due to the current mileage of 112,000 couldn't renew.

Went with Warranty Direct with no excess, no betterment, wear and tear after 30 days for £539. Very Happy

Payable in 4 interest free payments.

All WD policies expire after 130,000miles.

Interesting. My WD policy states 112,000 miles maximum.

LR warranty runs out end of July. Made initial enquiry with WD on internet quote came back at £850. Next day had a phone call and price was reduced to £650 for the ExtraCare (12 months). Got the paper copy through today and at first glance does seem to cover all the main bits and peices including wear and tear. D3 done 51K and with the arrival of a company van I will be lucky to cover 5K a year now. This also contains £50 excess but what is meant by "no betterment".

Thanks

Andy

No betterment is good to have!! It means that if they, say, fit a new engine and your car is, say, at 82k then it has "bettered" your car and you pay a proportion (not a high one) of the cost. I got No Betterment for an extra £50 for the year, but it gave me 13 months fr the policy. No brainer that it was Mr. Green .
Thumbs Up

So is there any option of warranty cover for a car with over 130k on the clock?

Looks as if the no betterment is a no brainer then. Will give them a call closer to the time and see what can be done. Insured through Bell who have joined forces with WD so hopfully will get a bit of dizzy.

Upgrade to a new D4 then you won't have to worry about the warranty for 3 years - although with your history of breaking things LR may baulk at selling you one Whistle

Thanks for all the comments.

I tried Warranty Wise, but they insist on less than 100k miles. WD are sounding good, I got a quote from them last month and also had a sales call offering a discount.

I just don't feel brave enough to run the D3 without any warranty at all.

DSL- I had a good look over a Yeti recently, although I didn't actually drive it, I was very impressed. No comparison to a D3/D4, but then why would it be, it's a totally different and significantly cheaper vehicle. I have thought about getting one to use for work and keeping the D3 for the times when I need its capacity and for off road "fun". Problem is the Yeti is so popular supply is limited.
