Apparentley this is only present in 2011 models. I have now driven 3 other 2011 discoverys supplied by the dealer and experiance the sme problem in all these vehicles. This includes 2011 sports with the same engine !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! In on going dispute with land rover. Top engineer has told me it is a carictaristic and put up with it ! Even though he agreas the vehicle is in the wrong gear .

I was thinking exactly the same thing yesterday! It feels like it needs to change down a gear but insists on staying in top gear unless you plant your foot to the floor to force a kickdown.
Haven't spoken to the dealer about it yet, but would be interested to hear your outcome!

My 2011 MY is fine but ISTR that the auto box settings are 'adaptive' and so called intelligent. They will remember how you normally drive and the box will change gear to suit your preferred style.

In a previous car (Volvo V70) which showed the same kind of problems, the dealer advice was to drive it hard for a day or two, using the kickdown as much as possible. This reset the adaptive memory and all was well, for a while.

My driving is mainly fast country roads,up and down the box, having fun Razz , as the nearest motorway is about 100 miles away, also I do a lot of towing and use the command shift to keep the revs in the sweet zone. The electrickery must be baffled by my 'style' but the D4 does not show any of the sypmtome described on this thread.

Is the adaptive box clever enough to recognise which key was used to start it? No reason why it couldn't learn the style of each keyholder!

Would a battery disconnect reset the 'adaptive memory' ??

that makes sense. Her indoors is the main driver of the car, and perhaps the car has learnt that she drives everywhere at 20mph!
we're towing the van to Holland for a week over the bank holiday, so I will be doing all the driving for the week. I'll see what its like when we get back after she's been nowhere near the driving seat for a while!

You have got the feeling in one!!!

Sorry guys the adaptive side of the vehicle will not solve the problem.I was told this by Landrover . You must have a 2011 model As the problem is due to an upgrade . All those in 2010 should be just fine. Landrover will not de map mine back to the 2010

I have a MY2011 and don't recognise this problem. So, if it is a problem, it is not with all cars.

Maybe get a second opinion at another dealership ...if this issue applied to all 2011MY vehicles then I'm sure that we would have had other reports on the site. Confused Thumbs Up
