Matt, did you phone an NFU local office or the national number?
I got quotes last year from the local office and they were very expensive.
Phoned the national number last week about my van and they were about the same as my renewel with slightly better cover but more excess.
I went with them as my last insurer (cornhill) moved to a foreign call center and when I rang about a stone chip in the windscreen the girl did not have a clue what I was on about Rolling Eyes Evil or Very Mad
 Zermatt silver 06 reg.

Gone but not forgotten !!!

Ouch! Was it hit by a stationary tree?

Absolutely, unfortunately the tree came off better. This was a lowish speed colision trialling but the inner wings were rotton & they just collapsed. Bit of a project now sitting in my garage.

Our local branch has just changed ownership and lost their NFU agency. This is why I've shopped around again.
I emailed the next nearest NFU local office and had no reply yesterday. So I've since phoned the national number and dealt with them and got the quotes. Then this afternoon the local office called and while the price she quoted was the same, she has got me a further discount knocking another £20 off the price. So it does pay to use the local agent. She phoned my previous NFU agent and got the details of my previous commercial vehicle policies and has given me another discount based on the fours years I've had NFU policies.

I have just committed to change to LR insurance at £440, two named drivers, PNCB, full off-road (non Rally) cover. NFU was £434 with only green lane cover and Caravan Club, existing insurer was £428. All cover comparable, bar new for old replacement on NFU policy for first two years.
2005, TDV6 S, Auto, 190k miles, owned from new, V8 Brake Upgrade, Nancom Evo, RLD protector, BAS EGR blanking & Remap, separate ATF cooler, changing all the fluids ahead of time.

NFU isn't greenlane cover, it is anywhere provided you aren't racing or rallying. Don't forget who it is designed for, not many farmers greenlane!

In theory every cover inc greenlane cover - they are public roads after all (although some are not happy about that).

I just spoke with LR Insurance, and I am quoted £688 to go with them. I have not had my renewal from NFU yet, so it remains to be seen if they are competitive.

Last year NFU were £609.

I am told that thay are loading my insurance because my wife had a claim 18 months ago for the Mini which was never found. I could exclude the & spouse bit, but she would not be happy.

I am not happy with this, as we are already paying more on the Mini insurance policy as a result of this claim. So I guess we are a bad risk at the moment.

Divorce is a option Wink
