Hi
loads of good points guys Ive just got my renewal in and Im a bit more lucky than some My car is a 05 so the bloody road tax I should have thought would have been £240 as per usual oh no it wasnt its now £260.00 and as I said before the newer ones are now £460 do they think this is fair do they care not a bloody hope.
I wish that as another post that we all had the balls to just not fill our cars for a full week just imagine how much mayhem that would cause.
cheers

That's just the problem I'm afraid Mike....many of us cannot do without them, regardless of what the lettuce-worshippers tell you.....cars are a necessity where I live, and in the Winter,a big bloody 4x4 is the weapon of choice.
No matter how much "spin" our good friends put on it,they will continue to charge what they like...because we WILL pay it.....Once they get used to a certain amount of revenue coming in from any one source, that source then becomes relied upon to provide, year after year.
They are currently relying on a duty windfall from the high price of oil,and blaming the crude price for it.....But wait a minute...Lets imagine an "unrealistic" scenario where petrol drops to 90p a litre...that seem ludicrous ?....
Petrol was that price as recently as Nov 2008....It is currently around £1.30/l......of which the Government take 80p...that's right...they now take nearly as much in duty per litre as the cost of the entire litre 3 years ago...
Think they are going to give that up...or road tax hikes ?...not a chance...who do you think is subsidizing the cuts.?...that's right...the motorist ..... "Better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to speak out and remove all doubt" ?.....what rubbish...

Don't forget that the whole VED scheme keeps loads of people in gold plated jobs and final salary pensions in Swansea. I would prefer it on the price of a litre. He or she who drives/uses the most pays the most. Grandad with a Fiesta pays virtually nothing, high mileage drivers pay more. Chavs cannot dodge VED, as it is charged at the pump.
Perhaps it is time the motorist declared war on the government....

The problem with putting it on at the pump is the pump price will go up MORE and nor stop so we pay MORE than just having a yearly tax
£460/12 is only £38(ish).
What we are missing is the price of crude has dropped enough that we should be seeing fuel around the 80-90p mark - but we arent because they arent dropping it...why, fuel companies are liking their profit and the government wont step in as they are liking the extra tax.
They didnt drop the vat/duty balance they put in when vat was dropped to 15% - so there was another rise by stealth.

Phew, they got rid of that when boris came , conservatives , it was
Bloody ken that wanted that ,
In my road they have permit parking , I would have to pay £350 to park, instead of £45 ,
Because , you drive a 4x4 sir , the permit parking , stops 50 ft from
