Got this email from my dealer today:-
"Sorry it's taken me a while to reply, but I've only just got the info you have asked about after a meeting with Land Rover. I can confirm the 07 model year Discovery 3 line up is unchanged including the pricing.
Minor cosmetic changes are: bright finish to horn bars on the steering wheel and to the centre console, 3 flash indicators(for overtaking), hybrid tv option available with premium sat/nav, additional clock in instruments, ignition off seat adjustments, and a new style of alloy wheel. There is no talk of a tyre pressure monitoring system being on offer is Australia."
Pity, I would have liked the typre presure monior Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent.

The system fitted is the Siemens system - pity this is inferior to to Scrader System theat use RF technology & the valve stem as antanae to signal.
Be aware that other makes of vehicles have had boatloads of problems with this technology & realistically you still have to check your pressures anyway with guage - to be sure.
Remember TYRE PRESSURES are a safety function. BREXIT - done properly.
Right now ...We need Government - not Politics
Save the Dipstick Flagbearer-keep it simple, less likely to fail campaign-agenda items:Starting Handles, Acetylene Lamps.

D3 HSE-perfectly formed, passenger friendly...has real DIPSTICK
Jag XK-but sadly no DIPSTICK...HUGE design fault
FL2 has DIPSTICK..."real comfort in rear seats"
VW Golf wondermobile (?)..has real DIPSTICK
Morris Minor..original DIPSTICK technology..and a real KEY.

I have ordered sensa tire model cost $480 delivered.
it provides real time display of temp and pressure.
the smart tire model does the same, but cost is $680, but you get colour warning lights.
sensa model display matches the disco display

Flew up to the Sydney motorshow yesterday, basically to check out the new Freelander2 for SWMBO.
Gottoa tell you, LRA needs to take a long hard look at itself
I got an mailed invite (flyer) to come and view the Freelander2 as well as the TDV8 in the FFRR. Went all the way there thinking id get to touch, feel, smell, hop-in and hop-over the new cars - NOPE
The Freelander2 was sitting on a pedestal and I was not allowed to even open the door to look inside, let alone hop in! Some guy with NO IDEA (of its specs or generally) tried to get me to pre-order one for delivery in May 2007, but still would not let me hop in ("show special price " I asked - "no, the price has not been set yet, but please, buy one now anyway" was the answer )
There may have been a MY2007 TDV6 HSE on display - could not tell as I was not allowed in that car either I asked the rep if it was the MY2007 - he had no idea I asked him to summarise the MY2007 updates - he had no idea
I gave up in disgust - figured it was a hopless case to try to check out the V8
If you were thinking of going to the show to check out the LRA stand - forget it Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent.

I've had visits to a dealership which have been like that...
Makes you wonder if anyone at the top of LRA have ever had a real job. Ex Defender 110 200Tdi owner.

To be fair, I must also admit that my dealer (the one who I finally went with) has been the opposite - he is helpful, knowledgeable of the car and its capabilities, and above all else HONEST (well, about what he can and cant do, anyway ).
I would be happy to recommend Charlie of Massoro Motors in Morwell, to anyone thinking of buying (he even sponsors, and is a member of, the local Land Rover off road club).
But I will reserve my final judgment until delivery of the car (in Feb 2007 ) Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent.

Hi Folks,
I just called my dealer today and found that my D3 is MY07. Bad news is that the boat has still not arrived. That means it will be at least another 3-4 weeks until delivery. <sigh>

Hi Jonesy63,
as a matter of interest, do you know what month yours was built in? My dealer tells me mine is a November build, but still recons delivery wont be until Feb 07...seems like a long time to build a car in England and send it to OZ??? (or perhaps I am just being tooo hopeful!)
When do they recon yours will arrive? Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent.

Hi Tristan,
Well, according to the dealer, it was a September build. Going on how accurate he has been, it may be October build. I was originally going to be in the car late October/early November. The lease company say delivery is scheduled for 30/11 - I am starting to believe them.
I found out that all D3s built after 25 September are MY07.
Mine was ordered in July - so that is over 2 months from order to build. Then at least 2 months from build to delivery. It is a wonder there are so many on the road!
Cheers,
Rob

as a matter of interest, what colour did you order? Also, did you get the rear locking diff?
I ask, because I also ordered in July and was told that delivery would not be until Feb 07
Excuse was because of the locking diff?!? Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent.

Hi Tristan,
I just received a note from the leasing company - the expected delivery date is now 11/12, due to a delay in shipping. Sheez... this is like a pregnancy!
I ordered a TDV6 SE in Chawton white, with side protection bars, active rear diff and rear A/C. I too could have taken possession much sooner had I wanted a Bonatti Grey without options - but that defeated the point of getting the car... so I wait.
As far as waiting until Feb because of rear diff - that sounds like a story to me! Then again, I might get strung along until then too - I should shut up now!
Cheers,
Rob

It seems LR's build to order lead time is always a long time.
Mine is one in the first few deliveries to Australia and was ordered based on my specification. Order was placed in Dec 04 (before anyone had even seen one in Australia) and it was built in Feb 05 and delivered to me in late April 05. So a wait of 5 and a bit months for a brand new model looks like wasn't too bad in hindsight.
Santa might be nice and have it in your dealer by Xmas 8)

Thanks Chris.
Let me see... 2 months from order being placed to build. Now I get it - they must use homing pigeons to send the orders back home to mother England!
How else could we explain 8 weeks from clicking an order button in a dealership to an order arriving in a system at the manufacturing plant?
As for the 2.5 to 3.5 months to build and ship to Australia... these are mass-produced vehicles... not hand-built. And ships no longer use wind power.
Am I bitter? You bet! Until I am in my new ride...
