I have a July 11 D4 with surround camera's and 'hitch assist'. Question is, how can I tell (short of hooking up the caravan) if I also have "Trailer stability assist" fitted. I can't remember ordering it as I can't recal it ever being a separate stand alone option, or is it automatically part of the 'hitch assist' package .

All D4's have the Trailer Stability Assist - regardless of camera's and other options.

Mark.

Cheers Mark,
That's what I always believed to be the case, but someone today tried to convince me that it was a factory option, in the end he had almost convinced me that he was right. I should have put money on it. In fact, LR has also since confirmed by email that being the case for the D4 (if factory tow bar and electrics are fitted) On a mission to find the perfect Pork Pie. Hi Chris
It does not even have to have factory fit tow bar; Trailer Stability Assist is an enhancement/part of the DSC. Whether it is turned on as part of the towing electrics enabling or is always there and dormant I don't know - but definately does not have to have factory towing equipment.
Mark.

On the camera menu it should have a tow assist button. If it hasn't the n you need the dealer to enable it.
I had the same issue when I got mine and the dealer fobbed me off saying it wasn't possible to check without hitching a trailer but that isn't true. Check out Land Rover's Youtube video of it (a quick search should throw it up).
In the end I had to tell the dealership exactly what to do and how it should work based on the information from people on here.
As mentioned before trailer stability comes as standard anyway and just does it's thing in the background.

Hi,
do you need the 5 surround cameras for the tow assist? Or does it function with the rear camera?

Hi,
I think we are speak about TWO DIFFERENT features!
a) Trailer Stability Assist - standard part of DSC in every D4/LR4
b) Tow Assist - camera feature
Is this right?

Apologies.
I believe Tow Assist and Hitch Assist come only with the 360 cameras. D4 XS MY12 Galway

From the LandRover Experience courses I have done...the system is always there ready to act....they demonstrate it by driving the D3/4 up to say 30 + mph then violently swinging the streering wheel "lock to lock" whislt still accelerating...this simulates the trailer wagging the D3/4
What should & does happen is the car slows by braking using alternate sides to steady the car.....& bring it to a realistic slower pace.
It isnt selecatble BREXIT - done properly.
