Hi,
DPF
just met with my friendly LR garage man today and he told me they have had 'loads' of cars in re: this, especially those that mainly do town driving. This is not restricted to LR, but other manufacturers in his experience. He said that once the yellow warning light comes on, some don't get as far as a motorway to clear it out before the red light comes on. One of their high profile clients include part the Royal fleet and they have advised them to get petrol cars until it can be sorted. LR are apparently aware of this

That is understandable. I am about 100 miles from the nearest motorway. It does work on single carriageway and dual carriageways as well.

There were issues early on with the DPF but reliability improved. You dont need so much time above 40mph as you use to. Its about 10 minutes nowadays. I believe they dont fit Jersey cars with DPFs for that reason. Also, the active regeneration only comes on if passive regeneration isnt possible and it typically comes on long before it gets half full.

I was at the dealer this week and there was an 8 month old Spanish registered Range Rover. I asked him if it was in for service and he told me that it came in because the DPF Filter has failed. He told me that Land Rover did not want to change it under guarantee and he had to pay for it. It seems it is not covered by the 3 years guarantee; I will ask the dealer more information and post it here.
