Had similar issues with engine sytem fault which was intermittent at first then became permanent. Local independent diagnosed turbo boost fault and reset only for it to reappear within minutes. Deeper diagnosis at aa sister garage confirmed sticking valve -offered to strip and clean or better to replace turbo. Car was low on power and needed plenty right foot to get up and go. 81,000m

Now waiting for £910 piece of kit to arrive and get fitted- and then I discovered i could have considered the sticking VVT- thats life. Pays to pay attention here more often!

Considering blanking EGR's when in dismantled mode- 07 plate- so will I have a permanently on managment light if i do. And is it a problem if it is?

If its an 07MY, then yes.

If its a late registered 06MY, then no Thumbs Up

Thanks hgbosch. Great set of pics Thumbs Up I had no idea that it worked like that.
Definately no loss of power and the only black smoke I get is when I put foot at the start of a steep hill climb - but the smoke soon disapears.
Having said that it may well be the onset of a problem you describe. The indies that saw the fault on the faultmate said not to worry about it ... was LR Service in Cape Town who are well respected..

Going in to another indie Schalk Burger 4x4 in Somerset West for its 6 month oil change service on Thursday - actually on 116K km which I might turn into a 120K A-service. Will speak to the warranty guys first however.

Will see what they pick up before I quote comments on this thread as my very humble input Wink

Is this an affirmative for both questions? Sounds like it is probably not worth it if yes for both questions.

Its not a particularly big job, but it is quite awkward, and access is tight, but still do-able Thumbs Up
