My faithful 05 S manual (owned from new) is in for it's 105k service today. As I'm looking for another big family car car (not replacement) i asked to borrow a MY12 D4.
Lucky me, they've given me a HSE with 90 miles on the clock but after driving it for the day as I would mine i feel cheated
I love the gearbox and the engine is sweet and feel remarkably like my BMW. Yes it's handling is tad tighter but i am seriously disappointed.
Storage in the front is missing all those useful cubby holes.
The screen with satnav and radio etc is incredibly fiddly and frustrating. All i want to do is change radio station!
Dab doesn't seem to pick anything up but my BMW does when side by side.
The hi-fi sound doesn't seem any better than my HK.
From the second row of seats back it's a D3 but doesn't have heated rear seats as standard that mine had when purchased all those years ago.
No grab handles on the front seats to help the kids get in and out.
What ever happened to that rugged, practical car I bought and love? It's just too bling.
So i am in a dilemma, I was expecting to part with the thick end of £50k tomorrow when i anticipated ordering a new D4 but I'm left confused. What am I going to do? Merc GL? Audi Q7 or Allroad? New XC90? Wait for a D5? New FFRR or just go the other way and buy something totally impractical with a temporary roof? It seemed so easy this morning before they gave me the key!

I picked up on that too, my 2010 MY HSE has them front and second row as standard. Although it did take me a while to find the buttons when reaching back behind from the front seat.

Ahem! My 2012HSE has front and second row seats heated as standard
Sorry you didn't like the car though - Personally I think it's stunning 8)
Agree though with the reduction in storage in the front but a small price to pay IMHO.

You'll have a long wait then. There won't be a Discovery 5.

OK - small update.
I got it wrong it did have heated rear seats - I blame the kidz! It did grow on me a little more today but not enough to part with over £50k. So my solution might be a MY11 with a proper gear stick and the goodies i want. Hope to have a test drive next week.
As an aside i would just like to praise the excellent customer service and sales team at Guy Salmon in Bristol. My car went in today for it's 105k service and I just wanted to praise the quality of their customer service both before and after. £735 all in and I'm very happy. The car even feels better than before.

Pretty sure it won't be called Land Rover Discovery 5 from what I've been told.
I am here to be shot down in flames but understand that the marketing gurus at LR are intending to incorporate the D4 replacement into the 'Range Rover' brand.
The likelihood is that it will be called the Range Rover something or other.
I'm sure someone in the know could add a bit of weight to this.
