D4 Build Delayed
I ordered mine 26 July and was given an estimated delivery date of end of October.
Just been told by my dealer that build date is "end of November", which probably means I won't get my sticky hands on it till mid December at best
I'm just wondering whether I should delay registration till 1st January, so's it will be a proper 2012 car.
But I don't know if I can wait that little bit longer.

I'm guessing you ordered one of the colours which has not been in stock at the factory recently due to delays in paint supplies from Japan....?2016 Discovery 4 Commercial

Colour is Ipanema Sand so not affected by Japanese disaster. I ordered HSE with locking rear diff, Vision Assist, and detacheable tow hitch.
Dealer apologised for delay but didn't give a reason. I chose a small local dealer (Hereford) and they may not have as much clout with LR as some of the big boys.

Agree partially but it would be a 2012 '61' plate as opposed to 2011 ' 61' plate.
It makes a difference for resale. Think about a 2007 '57' plate against a 2008 '57' plate IMO. SOLD - 23my Range Rover Sport D300 Dynamic SE

Just MHO but I don't think a difference of three weeks will make ANY difference to the resale value at all.Ask yourself a question:
It's 3 years down the line and you are a buyer looking for a second hand D4 in the above spec/colour/Etc.
The vehicle is the one you've been looking for, it fits the bill perfectly and it's the right price....but hang on a minute! it's "only" a 2011! F that! Let's keep looking!

I the real world with real buyers an age difference of THREE weeks makes NO real difference.
We are in a global recession - if the deal is there to be done, three weeks makes NO difference whatsoever despite what Glasses GUIDE says.
It's just that - a guide

I was having second thoughts about the colour, cos you don't see many about in Ipanema Sand. It was your gallery pics that convinced me that I had made the right choice.
Cheers

It is probably one of the other extra's (often made by third party companies) that is causing the delay, or maybe it is simply because everybody wants a D4 all of a sudden

I was in the same position last year. In the end I decided it wasn't worth the waiting around and had it registered on 21st December and picked it up the following day when I got back from Hols. Might have cost a couple of hundred quid in resale value but at least we made all the Xmas dos we had to go to.2010 MX-5 2.0 Sport Tech PRHT

Totally agree, when we ordered ours we had never seen one in the flesh. But very glad we went that way - have always found the colour to work a treat and think it suits the vehicle very well. Low maintenance too.
