Oil leak at intercooler and hose joint |
|
I had a split intercooler hose a few weeks ago, I couldn't get hold of a replacement hose from the local stealer. So I decided to apply a tube patch on the split and covered it with duct tape. This morning I found oil stains on the cover protecting the hose. Opened the cover and found droplets of oil leakling from the hose. I have ordered a replacement hose but awaiting delivery. I don't think that there should be oil in any part of that hose including the intercooler! Why does mine have oil then?

Have you checked the engine oil Level!!!!
A certain amount of oil will find its way through that pipe but only very small amounts. If you are losing engine oil it could be the Turbocharger oil seals leaking or possibly engine crank case pressure.

Normal, some oil will get through the turbo. If you have a leak the oil will pond due to lower pressure. “There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€

Cheers guys for the reply. I removed the hose and cleaned it and also wiped the inside of the butterfly and intercooler. I have also checked the oil level and will do the same next week to see whether there is oil there. I hope its not the TURBO
