LR005737 - Snow Chains - Anyone Fitted? |
|
Guys
Just got my new show chains from TLO - fantastic turnaround!
Has anyone ever fitted these; reading the instructions (pictures), looks like the inner disk can be fitted and left on the wheel until you actually need to attach the chains.
Can anyone confirm... looks like a lot of effort to have to sort out in the snow on the side of the road otherwise.
Cheers
TJ

T3Jn, My advice would be to fit the plate then try the chains and adjust accordingly, until you get the right tension on
the chains, unless they are pre set, it depends what size wheels and tyre brand you have but I would try them no
matter what. The plate and cover can then stay on until you think you don't need them anymore, I just took mine off
this morning, they have been on for three weeks I used them up Scotland in a forrest whilst stalking. They are the Dogs
thing'ys. Best O luck. Always walk behind a Shooter and

Thanks, yes once those plates are on it's quite obvious you can leave them there. Chains (official LR part) came completely unconfigured, took a while to work out how to make them bigger. Land Rover instructions were useless, no mention of how to enlarge them, suggesting they are correct for the Disco 4. Not to mention the colour coding that was supposed to be on them... in the end called a US distributor to confirm how they should work.

The only colour coding shown on my instructions is the green chain always goes at
the bottom when attaching, when you drive off the chain goes into place on the tyre
automatic. I bought a small Torque wrench to make things easier fitting the plate the
settings are 13-14ft lbs or 18newton/mtrs the socket supplied is a waste of time IMO,
