Car Alarm Problems
Hi all... my D3 has started sounding the alarm this past weekend.
It goes off when the car has been parked for a few hours... any clues.
I was wondering if the alarm is voltage sensing and the battery is on the way out?
Cheers

Hi Mark, the battery would already be stuffed to the point where you could not start the D3 before the alarm would be effected.
Just a suggestion , but try arming your alarm and then press the alarm button again.
This will turn the alarm on but disable the interior sensors. You may have some unwanted guests and turning the interior sensors off will tell you if this is the case if the alarm does not trip.
This weird weather we are all having is causing an above average increase in insects, as I found this out just recently when I had a similar problem.2008 TDV8 RR Lux + 2009 D4 2.7

AFAIK we dont get the volumetric detection alarm in Oz we only get the Perimetric detection system. so pressing the key twice will do nothing with regard to interior activity

I do on my RR and just assumed ( wrongly it appears ) that it is a standard feature on the D3 as well.2008 TDV8 RR Lux + 2009 D4 2.7

Did you ever find out why the alarm was going off? I just took the horn fuse out of my wives D3 as the dealer couldn't find a fault, or replicate the fault while they had it in there.

I had this on mine too, turned out to be the switch under the bonnet catch that had an intermittent contact.
You can easily by-pass it to check and maybe eliminate it, just unplug it and link out the plug with a bent paperclip or similar, it's worth a try.Clive

Hi Tom and I have just been through the same thing and it also turned out to be the bonnet switch.
You don’t need to disconnect the switch to test it, when you are parked some where safe, as you are about to leave the D3, pull your bonnet release and just leave the bonnet up on safety and see if the alarm still trips.
If it doesn't, and I don’t know if there is any way to adjust a D3 bonnet switch but there isn’t on an RR so I simply fitted a self-adhesive rubber pad to the bonnet where the switch contacted it.
