I got a D3 2006 model, a few days ago I go a fault message regarding suspension, normal hieght only .The LEDs on the height selector when off as well. I found that the fault will only appear after the engine has been running for about 3minutes. The compressor switchs off and the fault appears on display. the compressor has not switched off due to overheating or motor overheating I have checked .I have checked filters ,airdriers air supply unit removed and checked all in order. Is there someone out there who can shed some light on the problem , please, as dealers dont fit into my budget

Hi Danny
That message means that the compressor is shot. It still works but it cannot keep the pressure required. Take it off and apart and lube everything again. See if that works. 2005 Discovery 3 V8 SE

Hi Crocher
I will take it off and dismantle it and check and lube , and hopfully that will solve the problem . I thought I had seen the last of that top mounting bolt, which is a b d to remove ,but we soldier forward. Thanks for the advice.

If you have stripped it off and cleaned it out and lubricated everything and it still gives the error then I am afraid it is a new compressor for you. Mine did exactly the same earlier in the year, and we just could not get it to work and keep the correct pressure and I had to eventually replace it. 2005 Discovery 3 V8 SE

Hi Danny
If you are near Midrand give me a call - I can help you with reading the faults, and also have a used but working compressor if you need one.

My problem was solved by Baden, he located the fault with his equipment and knowledge to a hairline crack on the air drier, between the two air pipes. He so kindly gave me a good secound hand drier, which I installed with a service kit and Bob's your uncle, Thank you to Baden and all who replied and helped locate problem.

Danny, I had exactly the same this summer in spain [holiday], 2500Km's from my home Warning light was amber, so drove on for another 3 months/ 8000km's without a doddle... 8) Do not need to go offroad that often. The idea is : how much longer will you keep your car? I have almost exactly the same car as you [age] with almost 200k km's. Plan to keep it another 5 years, or until the engine packs up [ € 10.000 job by dealer it appears]... So I replaced eg the radiator [about 'midlife' ; gonna-go wihtin next 5 years anyway and I'll safe me a busted autobox], same with the compressor... It will probably not live much longer. So I had the dealer put in an new one, new relay and ECU update... Really feel the difference in suspension... Like an extra damping circuit in it now !
