Reversing video guides on HSE

My ICE kit is a bit dicky on my MY2012 HSE and I wondered if this is another issue with it!

When in reverse, the guides come up overlaid on the video. When I turn the wheels they stay static and don't bend, as they do in the Evoque. Is this right or wrong?

Also, when you start the car or change radio channel I get a load of fuzz / white noise for a few seconds. Really annoying.

I think the whole system's screwed!

Sam

Only if you have the full surround cameras will the overlay "bend" otherwise with just the reversing camera they are fixed lines.

What use is that?! The Evoque doesn't have surround cameras, so "it must be software"!

Er, yes, clearly software putting the line overlay on on the picture. Hardware would be tricky... Spraying yellow lines on the road when you put the car in reverse is very messy. Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

I've tried both fixed and curving versions and found the fixed lines fine as they help line up into a bay. Bending ones didn't add that much as I find I can tell the turning radius easy enough. Interesting that evoke drivers need that little extra help though Whistle

Presumably so on the Evoque but on the D4 with reversing camera only the lines are added by the camera itself rather than by any software further up the line, on faulty camera's they can disappear (and the image can loose it's reverseness too Rolling Eyes ) The End

I thought the bendy lines were enabled in software with tow assist?

[edit] and a forum search reveals that you need the full camera package for tow assist Rolling Eyes

As MrH said, if you just have a reverse camera you get static lines, but if you have the full surround camera setup then the lines will 'bend'. Thumbs Up This is also sated in the 2011 (presume other years as well) manual for the D4.

My previous Jag XF had the bendy lines but not sure if they assisted more than the straight lines. The screen also displayed more of a punch. I mean I love the picture of the Disco 4 on start up but come on it would be nice if there was more on there...ie 4x4 info, Sat Nav arrows (that's on my A6 and on a previous 2004 E Class)

Its all software related and I guess LR did not want to pay the coders in India any more money... Big Cry Big Cry Big Cry Big Cry
