So long as it's Turbochip or JE Engineering, I doubt if it matters that much. Pick one that's closest and just do it!!! I love my TC Razz

having driven for a really really long time behind both JE and TC, JE would appear to smoke less, and the tune they did for TD5 amazed a lot of people in morocco when we were out there.

Totally agree. I have T/C & ITG air filter & I also love it. The bhp/torque is now pretty much perfect for the D3's suspension settings (on road) & brakes.
IMO, the standard ecu settings make the TDV6 just a bit too slow for everday/business use.

Shocked I've never been caught smokin' and it's been TCd since new.....

Was this a scientific observation which you can relate specifically to the TC vs JE, or just a case of bad fuel Confused

We all want to think that ours is the best, but as I said in my first answer, I doubt if there is much between the two. Razz

Then if the suggestion is that the JE tune runs better on sh*te fuel, perhaps the conclusion should be that the TC is a better map for UK quality fuel Shocked Confused Question

Whys that JMC why would I change to JE if the TC tune is better for UK most of my driving is UK and Europe. IMHO i beleive from what I saw that the JE tune is better down side they dont come to you but I'll chose to live with that.

Not suggesting you're wrong chap Shocked ......Just interested to comprehend the differences. Confused

From my understanding of engine tuning, neither company add anything physical, ergo there is little that can be done differently via software in order to extract maximum efficiency from the same engine.

I can't see what could be so different in a tune to make one smoke in the desert and the other not. Confused

BTW, did you know that the TC only maps the engine when in normal (non-terrain response) driving mode. If you were on another setting (sand?), then the TC wasn't actually doing anything as the other TR settings retain the standard LR engine map......

If anybody from TC and/or JE would like to suggest a reason for the reported differences (in a professional manner Wink ), then I'm sure we would be 'all ears'......

Thanks for all the input, and I will indeed contact AE magazine. My last question on this subject is given the fact that for over a year I lived off the warranty system will these upgrades break the warranty terms?

Yes they will, if it can be found to be the cause of the fault, otherwise no. They also have to be able to detect your modification. Some are brave enough, some of us are cowards Embarassed hence I haven't done mine, although Ithink the car does need it.

United Kingdom 2007 Discovery 3 TDV6 HSE Manual Zermatt SilverDiscovery 3

Just to throw something else into the mix...
I too had mine TC'd for the trip - and it did smoke somewhat Rolling Eyes However, after clearing a DTC related to airflow measurement, the amount of smoke dropped off significantly. There was no indication on the dash of this stored DTC and no indication in the performance other than the smoke...
And I don't think there was enough commonality in the vehicles to give a meaningful test result TBH ( it could just be down to driver skill Laughing Laughing )
