I thought that about the rear - but have you tried opening the tailgate if you drive further than the solid beep ?
Probably done for a reason..."To finish first, one first has to finish ...."

Agree with 90BHP. It allows room to open tail. Just keep going for another 60 cm after the flat line and you'll be where you want to be......... 2007 MY Irish spec S+ TDV6
If you want to be really accurate you have to use marker points. I was taught this on (ahem) an advanced driving course...
Park in a parking space in a modern empty car park (to avoid strange looks). With the Disco in normal height etc fettle your position until you are happy with the position of the car. then to get a reference or marker point. Get in, sit in your normal position and look in the drivers side rear view mirror. Now look down and note the exact distance from the bottom of your mirror to the white line along the front of the parking spaces. For me the gap has to be around 2".
Now drive out of the space and reverse back in, line up the "space" and you will be exactly the distance you want to be from the back of the space...."To finish first, one first has to finish ...."
I quite enjoy the few inches of 'solid tone' that the PDC set-up allows......
Means you can test your metal and play 'chicken' with the car in the same way as the low fuel warning when you pass a filling station

Solid tone is good when someone has parked right up your ar*e, but I prefer the gentle reassurance you get when the towbar connects with their car! My favourite phrase is "Oops!"
