Cold Weather Batteries
Hi
this is a follow on from a post i made in "faults" section to do with a low battery warning. having monitored this over a few weekes, the problem only occurs in cold weather. so i am thinking that the battery may not be up to scratch for the scotish climate.
with this in mind, what batteries are fitted to the vehicles sold in the scandinvian countires? my wife had a freelander some years back that had similar problems to the D4, the solution was to fit a bigger battery, the same that went into vehicles sold to countries with a cold climate.
if any one has an idea, or better still a land rover part number, assuming there are different batteries, this would be a great help.
there are no market specific batteries for the D4
all markets have the same LR030213 batteryTLO has left the building.......

many thanks for the info. i think i will need to see what other units are on the market, and try and source something with a large Ah rating, that will fit in the space.Cheers

been reading some of the posts on the forum, there does seem to an issue with the D4 in cold weather. the technician at stirling land rover did mention that there were issues with the battery management module on the range rover, if they are the saem unit on both vehicles, then this could be the issue.
will keep all informed of the results, if there are any, if not, then it is down the rejection line, have already put this in an email to the dealer.Cheers

Mr T
both cars have the land rover tracker system fitted. i origionaly thought this may be the issue, but again the technician at LR stirling tells me it only draws abour 200 milli amps, so not a large amount. they also contacted the manufacturer and asked there advice on this, but they say they have not had any issues to date.Cheers

Having identical issues here, 2009 D4, battery not holding charge in cold conditions....only started doing it this season, been through both previous snowy winters fine! Was wondering if it is more "cold and damp" conditions it doesn't like? No tracker here....2016 Discovery 4 Commercial

TLO mentioned on here a few days agao that there was a TB with regards to trackers and not fitting certain ones. May be worth talking to him to find out more and if our tracker is one of the ones that was causing issues. The trackers were causing battery issues from memory MY17 D5 1st Edition Namib Orange

Cannot remeber where I saw it but you used to be able to get battery "bags" like a sleeping bag but for the battery to sit in, help to protect them from the cold.MY17 D5 1st Edition Namib Orange
