Possible buy of a 2006 TDV6 HSE Advice please |
|
Howzit everyone..
New to the forum & been reading up a lot on these cars as I would like to purchase one this year.
I've seen an ad on gumtree for a 2006 TDV6 HSE with 143000km selling for R240K, is this a good buy or not & when I do go see it what must I ask the owner apart from the FSH, since it would be a private sale how do I go about getting extended warranty?
Your assistance will be highly appreciated & Happy New Year!!!!!

Hi there, welcome to the forum, seems like everybody is still in holiday mode. The D3's are good cars, very capable and a pleasure to drive, there are a few maintanance issues, on 160 000km you have to replace the timing belts on the rear of the motor, this can be costly depending on who it is done by. Others things to look out for on that mileage is:
Lower control arm bushes: When you drive very slowly, actually idling speed, and you brake sharp, you will feel a clunck on the front wheels, this will indicate that they need replacement. About R4k
Diffs: Open the rear windows while driving and listen for a noise on the rear diff when you slow down (coast ) to stop. Also listen to the front diff for any noises while driving
Compressor: Adjust the driving height while stationary and listen for accesive noise from the compressor, also look for "suspension fault" error message on the dash.
Take the car to a dealer / independant technician to get the error/fault codes checked out and explained
This is only what I know of , hopefully they will add to these and/or give better advice.
Good luck White MY2011 SDV6 HSE

Yes I do guess everyone is still on holiday mode..
Thank you for your response Kabous..
Took the car for a drive this morning & the control arm bushes seem okay as I did what you wrote, there wasn't any sound.
There wasn't any noise in the diffs as well & the air suspension works well no error codes on the dash.
Tyres are about 50% worn off though...
Guess will know tomorrow if I will be the proud owner of a D3 or not as I want to finance it.

The reason I asked is that I am familiar with TJD, she is practically new, cos everything has been replaced, and remapped

HI Basil, the vehicle was sold to LR Midrand late december. My sister's car, so I know it well. she had the diffs replaced, gearbox, compressor etc, and bought a D4. Sorry I don't know if it is still available. It had about 160k on it
