Transferring a Traxide D3 Aux Battery set up to D4 |
|
Hi all,
I have a question about taking my Traxide D3 Aux battery kit from my D3 and transplanting it into a D4.
1. I noticed the D4 Aux battery compartment is full of things now. Where do you fit the battery now? I use a Optima Yellow top by the way.
2. Is the traxide controller identical or is there a new one for a D4 - maybe a question for Drivesafe.
3. In the D3 near the brake booster is a convenient rubber grommet to pass wires through into the cabin, in a D4 is there still the grommet or is there some other hole to use?
If you know, please let me know.
Thanks,

Drivesafe does a kit for a battery in the back but you can move the modules out of the way and fit a battery in the same place.

Thanks caverD3.
Hi PCH, while the cabling is either D3 or D4 specific, the controllers are the same so all you need to do is modify the cables to suit your requirements.

Thanks Guys for your replies.
There is a few Traxide bits to come out of the D3 then
Now, to start planning when to get a D4.

Hi Chris,
I went through the same question. I ended up leaving the Traxide system in my D3 and ordered a new kit for the D4.
Cleared the front Battery Tray, installed the Battery and the new Traxide Kit. Everything bright and shiny new for the new D4.

Hi,
what size of optima battery did you install - the 55A version (YT S 4.2)?

Optima D34, 55Ah Yellow top. Fits neatly. works well, Re-Charges quickly on the D4. No problems at all with it.

If you plan to fit the rear sockets, you might want to consider the alternative location I used. It is neat, tidy and more streamlined. There are pictures in my gallery.
