What does it tell you to do in your WD welcome package which contains all the fine print and details?

I've made two claims, both successful. In my case, this is what happened:

1. Call them first, ask their advice, ask them to register the potential claim
2. They told me to book the car in to dealer for diagnosis
3. Dealer examines car and diagnoses fault
4. Dealer rang WD and got claim number
5. Work done, got dealer invoice including WD claim number on narrative
6. I paid dealer
7. Send claim form plus copy of Dealer invoice; MOT and service invoices to WD
8. They paid me by cheque in a few days

The key point from my experience is that WD will NOT pay anything if you get remedial work done without a claim number.

Check with them that the component is covered under your policy before you authorise work to be done, they would not pay out on my claim for a inlet manifold, said it was not covered although the engine was?? Cost me over £800. Needless to say I cancelled my policy and keep away from them.
 It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

Well, yes. Of course. But, you can't authorise work if you simply expect them to pay afterwards; they have to agree it first. All warranty companies have exceptions; WD only cover "internal lubricated engine parts:". Big vague. Manifold is certainly not one of those...

The best warranty is probably the LR Approved Used one, but... experience varies.

Unfortunately not all parts are covered on any extended warranty, doesn't mean that because one part isn't covered it's not worth having. The only way to get around this is to only run these cars in manufacturer's warranty and sell at 3 years. Ya pays yer money etc.
