new lr3 owner...problems with sat rad activation
hello...purchased a 2008 lr3 in November. love the vehicle, with the exception of being unable to utilize the sat radio.
the issue i am unable to resolve relates to my inability to transfer my sirius subscription from my previous vehicle to the lr3. I press the "aux" button and see the sirius 800 number to subscribe with no sound and i am unable to navigate away from ch 000. this is on sat 1 and sat 2. see photo:

i'm also able to navigate to the radio id # as seen:

i have tried ad nauseum with multiple phone calls and levels of personnel at sirius. sirius finally told me to contact lr, which i did. the dallas lr dealership did not offer any help at all. i suggested that it might need a software update, as i had read this somewhere, but the rep told me he had never heard of this. pretty disappointed with my first lr dealer experience. not sure what to do now.
any advice would be much appreciated. best regards.

have this same problem with mine, couldn't figure it out.
One day while washing the car, I saw that the OEM radio antenna(the big one on the back of the truck, top of lift gate) had been replaced with a smaller aftermarket unit, I'm now in search of an OEM unit to see if it solves my problem.

Mine has the oem "shark fin." Want to trouble shoot it but need a special bit to remove antenna fasteners and also am unsure of the Sirius receiver location. Haven't had time to do much research on it.

same here, haven't had mine for long, and unfortunately they did a hack job when they replaced the OEM antenna

Have seen a lot of "dummy" antennas (I don't know why you'd want to fake it). Should be a few LR dealers around Dallas, if not fort worth, I'd try a different place. Software update or something similar should fix it. I've certainly felt like older LR's get less attention at dealerships - only care about fat RR and RRS

I'm having the same problem. My sat radio wont turn on any channel other than 02. I signed up and they tried to send my a re-program and nothing. I even pulled the head liner and spliced in a new Sirius antenna into the single blue wire going into the shark fin. Still nothing. Might have to do to the dealer to have it programmed.

It took a couple of attempts to get mine activated. I think the key is that the antenna needs a clear view of the sky and the radio has to be on the Sat channel for the period when the activate signal is being sent. The first time the rep did it manually and I assumed it would work. Later went back and Sirius has a telephone menu option to resend an activation signal without speaking to a human (like the cable companies do) - this worked after a few minutes sat in the Rover with the radio tuned to the channel.
I'd hate to say you may have bought a new antenna without needing one. So I won't.
