Risk is fine if you can afford to cover the worst, I just write off the caost of the WD cover as party of my motoring costs and sleep at night Having seen horror stories on here I have seen enough, I want to keep driving the car, not looking at it, sods law can be a some times and I am not lucky that way

DSL hash = thrash in this part of the country. An accepted colloquialism (big word before lunch)
Anyway, my telepathic powers are telling me you have shares in WD! Yes you are DG clone, a bit like the Stepford Wives too. Have you been anywhere near a Faultmate at the same time as DG? These are all signs! he's trying to take over the world you know. A cunning evil plan to rewrite your brains CCF!
Understood re hash, thought it might have been "make a hash of it", for me = DIY.
Shares in WD?? No chance, totally risk averse.
Re DG, he's just up the road from me but doesnt slum it down here too much. I can assure you our CCFs are completely different. He's got satnav enabled & I just get lost all the time.

Might be wrong, but cash cow is one of DGs expressions!
A quick search suggests that it's not

well guys we are onto page 2, and already the thread is, to a fair extent, off track.
All I was after was if anyone knew who might be the current "leader" in providing extened warranty cover, as they all seem to have their ups and downs.
Cheers anyway

As well as 'customer' feedback you might get on here it may be an idea to also ask your service provider who they feel is the the fairest and easiest to deal with from their pov. I know that some might think that it's in the interests of dealerships to recommend LRW for example but they are not on any commission for their honest feedback IME 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

Some dealers have "group" deals with extended warranty providers and while the leaflets on the counter will be for the LR warranty, their own scheme can be a good deal.
Mine was very good value for three years' cover. It doesn't cover wear and tear but I bought it to insure against big items like engine or gearbox that we couldn't afford to pay for out of the blue. So far it's paid out on enough that I'll be happy even if everything works perfectly for the remaining 18 months. Actually I'll be ecstatic if nothing else goes wrong in 18 months
There was no requirement to use the dealer for servicing, although because I'd had it serviced elsewhere they did charge for a "pre-warranty inspection".
