Detachable Tow Bar - Drop Plate?

Is anyone aware of a fitting for the detachable swan-neck-style tow bar which incorporates a drop plate, or at least some means of varying the ball height?

I know that the fixed tow bar with the two arms has the drop plate, but was wondering if there was anything similar for the detachable version, as per the L322 Range Rover's detachable tow bar:

You can buy the US/Aus spec attachment which has the 2" receiver the same as the FF one does, so you can plug whatver you like in to it. They come up for sale on here from time to time as people bolt nato hitches to them. I think they are still available from dealers too.

Excellent, I'll keep an eye out for one.

I don't suppose anyone knows the LR part number? Haven't found anything so far on a quick search.

That looks like the kind of thing - does that not need the two stays attaching via the round holes like the fixed LR tow bar?

I'm not overly-familiar with the Discovery/Sport tow bars.

Unnecessary quote removed

That looks more like it - I want to be able to fit a ball and jaw on a drop plate using the existing swan-neck fitting (i.e. without fitting a LR-style fixed tow bar with the two metal stays).

No, but I don't think anyone cares.

I use my fixed tow bar with a 6" drop plate without the fixed arms when towing my trailer. Whistle Best of both worlds - adjustable tow hitch, which is removable quickly Mr. Green

They might if you were involved in an accident, or were stopped by the police. I know in the UK it is illegal to use a "drop" plate to raise the height of the towball, that one looks as though that is how it works.

It's all been covered on here before, I originally thought that it was a serious issue to use a non approved tow bar (I think it came up in the wiggs trailer build when discussing the nato hitch) and I was in the "you shouldn't do it because it's against the law" camp but I couldn't give two Censored now. Rolling with laughter

If I was towing something heavy then I might attach my side bars, but my 300KG camping trailer isn't going to do much.

If you were in an accident I think they'd need to prove that the incorrect towbar assembly was the cause before not paying out, and if the police stopped you, they probably wouldn't know what they hell they were looking at or what the rules are anyway.

As long as you weren't 0.1mph over the speed limit or eating a marsbar Thumbs Up
