Excessive oil found in turbo pipe's
Not sure how much or which pipe - limited info
Need some wheels now, so waiting for a courtesy car

I've always wanted to ask - why?
Your registratiion number is on full view when the car is on the road, and quite possibly when parked in the open at home, work or at a dealership.
I've heard people talk about avoiding cloneing, but does that really make sense? By the way my registration number is NJS5, it's appeared on hundreds of photographs attached to various cars, but I've had no problem over 45 years.
NJSSAm I Gammon or Woke ? - I neither know nor care.

What would be regarded as "excess smoke"? My D4 smokes more when being started than the D3 ever did. I'm starting to get paranoid again!

I was told this was normal for Discovery 4's
Just hope it gets sorted.
The problem is then - do i get shut and sell it and chop it in for a MY2012.
I don't really want to because its the colour any spec i want and i've got it looking just right, or maybe i should take out an extended warranty when its due to expire.2007 RS4 Avant

I know what you mean. I had the same quandary over the D3. I didn't want to change really (I liked seeing my bank account with a healthy balance!), but my heart skipped a beat every time I heard the "bong", even when most of the time it was only the ice warning. Having had a play with a 2012 model last week, I must admit it was very nice, but whether it would be the price difference nice, only you can decide. As I'm very new to the D4 world, it's out of the question for me.
As for an extended warranty, I wouldn't be without. I was with Warranty Direct with the D3, and they were brilliant. Fortunately the D4 I've got still has several months Manufacturer's warranty left, and the previous owner bought two years extended warranty when it was new (transferable to me ).

Got the car back tonight complete with mod kit fitted everything checked all pipes cleaned out, turbo checked.
So the plan is to test it and monitor and report if the problem comes back.
I have some good trips coming up over the next month with plenty of miles to test it out thoroughly.
One thing I have noticed since I've got it back is the engine feels much much sharper and miles more responsive than before it seems to me it must have been down on power cause it really flies now.
Stratstone have been pretty good overall and so have Landrover Customer Services, I just hope the car behaves now I can get on with enjoying it.2007 RS4 Avant

Hi Roylance, Hope they've sorted it for you - I've been waiting for your outcome!
I read your first post just after I'd put a deposit on my disco and it got me a little worried to say the least as I noticed a puff of smoke when I started it up the 1st time at the dealers but didn't think anything of it at the time.
I havent really noticed anything since I got it home so hopefully is doesn't have the same problem as yours had - fingers crossed!
Out of curiosity did you manage to find out what the mod was that they did?
Keep us posted of any developments (if any)
