Hello & potential owner of 2005 2.7 Discovery 3 HSE |
|
hi All
I wanted to say hello as a potential owner.
Keep meaning to post a hello but get carried away reading the threads.
It would be excellent to get some buying advice for a discovery 3 if anyone can point me in the right direction.
I had in mind a 2005 Discovery 3 HSE (has nice options) has had a performance remap/chip done by Paramount Performance (economy and torque).
Full main dealer history. car has covered 78000 miles is asking £15K which seems a good price, just had new pads and two new tyres as well as a service.
Looks like a nice car, has the sidesteps on it which I quite like and a leather steering wheel (which is not standard from what I hear).
Thanks to anyone who is able to help.
Cheers

Hello,
Welcome to the madhouse!
You should consider that it will need it's belts doing if they haven't already been done.
It's 6 years or 105k and can be over £500.
Other than that the usual precautions like FSH, check its had all its recalls and as its a HSE check all the bells and whistles work.
Good luck All things shipping, storage, transport. UK and worldwide.

Thanks Bigdave
Belts are a good call, worth using as a bargaining chip. I have just moved to south wales so will probably look for an indy in that area as well (its pretty rural so expect to find one nearby).
We have a third child on the way and I hear that fitting three children in the back of a discovery (all under 5) is pretty straight forward., but in anything else it can be a pain i.e. an X5.
Glad you like the username, I thought it'd provoke a laugh.
in an HSE Can I expect things like electrically adjustable steering wheel and seats as well as cruise and so-on,I am keen on comfort, is heated seats standard on an HSE.

Hi X5, welcome.
Not sure if heated seats at the back are standard (I am sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong) but my hse has them.
Steering wheel isn't electric, but the seats are, drivers also has memory.
Mine is in for the big service today and have a brand new focus as courtesy car, cannot wait to hand it back and get mine... D3 sooooo much more comfortable
Good luck

Hi BD,
I think that you'll find that it's 7 years or 105k miles. The Bearded Dragon

the belts will either have been done or be due, I know the seller very well and he really looks after his cars so if something needed doing I expect he would have done it.
Also, He did mention something to me one morning after it had a flat battery it had "stalled" when starting up and they were not sure if it was a blocked injector or a problem or if it needed to be checked somewhere.
I asked him about it this week, he said it has not happened again so I am not sure if anyone knows what this may turn out to be or if it is common, with it being an Auto what would a stall be.
I am happy to ask him a little more about this.
