Is it a 'Safe' engine or not ?
Following my very near miss with cambelt failure and apparently no damage to the engine. Can anyone confirm whether the TDV6 is a 'Safe' (non interference) engine or not, i.e enough clearance between pistons and valves in the event of a cam belt failure.

I cant confirm, but I would have thought its an interference engine. Think you were 'very' lucky. Will find out with tonights Lotto I guess
The last 'safe' engine I remember doing a belt on was an 8 valve Cavalier My D3 Build Thread

Not really thought about it as I presumed that all modern engines were an interference design to achieve the required level of combustion. I seem to remember that the Lion TDV6 pistons are crowned too.
I'm with Mikey, luck was on your side as you could have ended up with interesting paperweights!
