wierd backround noise when using aux

When connecting my mp3 player to the aux in, there is a weird background noise.
When disconnecting the jack cable, it is still there, but not that loud.

Sounds like an old Nokia charger ...

Is this a known issue with the aux input ?

are you removing the jack from the AUX socket or just removing it from the MP3 player? If the latter the signal cable is still live (activated by plugging into the aux socket) and will generate noise. Should go away when the device is connected though so in practice this issue only occurs if AUX is selected with no device attached to any extension 3.5mm cable you are using.

Just switch to another mode, radio or cd, unless there is some thing plugged in, then the aux will make a wierd noise.

Old thread resurrection. I have this noise and it now over powers music played via iPhone. Volume of anything played through aux input to the point I can’t continue listening. Anyone else experience this?

I noticed something when VOL was on about 20 and engine running.
Alternator noise I guess

Is the player in a metal case? If so, does the noise disappear when you touch it?

This sounds very much like an audio grounding issue…

Turns out it was a dodgy 3.5mm Jack lead. Swapped in a different one and all is good again👍
