Are these Symptoms of D4 Turbo failure?

Apart from excessive blacksmoke on hard acceleration, poor performance or increased fuel consumption are there any other symptoms to watch out for eg poor response at low revs under load or when climbing a very steep incline? Confused

I've not noticed blacksmoke, and performance in general isn't noticeably down, just got increased fuel consumption and the issue of poor throttle response under load. An example being when going up a winedy steep hairpin set of bends she struggles around initially, nearly to the point of stalling, before then surging into life. Anyone else had this?

Not done any checks yet, just trying to get as many possibilities listed before taking a look on the weekend prior to booking in with dealers.

I get a pause in response occasionally with no other issues detected.

...just put it down to the 'helpful' Evil or Very Mad gearbox learning my driving style, even though I drive in different styles.

After a spirited run, it starts behaving in a jerky manner like sports mode, then calms down.

...Never thought about it being an engine problem Rolling Eyes

Thanks Guys. I know what you're saying re the gearbox, but it's like it in command shift 1st gear as well as Auto hence my thinking it's engine rather than gearbox related.

It works on a certain highly rated LR mechanic/tech guru we know, might work on the D4. Have you offered it a beer? Whistle

I had similar symptoms on my D3 a couple of weeks ago.
