Open post in new tab on a MAC |
|
Not sure if this has been addressed before, I couldn't find anything in this section.
I have a habit of opening the various sections in their own tab. This works great in windows / Internet Explorer however when doing this on a mac / safari this doesn't quite work the same way.
In windows, use a right mouse click then select open link in new tab. The page you are on does not change, it just opens a new tab in Explorer and in that tab you'll see the page you wanted to open. This works great when you want to open a few forum sections from for example the home page.
On a mac this doesn't quite work the same way. Yes it opens the page in a new tab ok, however it also opens the link on the page you were selecting the link to open - which means you have to click "go back" to be able to open the next link.
Can this be fixed?
Thanks
Ron

I've checked the preferences and that box is indeed unpicked. If it weren't then I would see that behaviour on every other website too, but that isn't the case - it's just on this website. It is not that the new tab becomes the active one, the current tab stays active but continues to load the same link as the link in the new tab.

Sorry, no difference. I have closed and re-started Safari before checking.

On any list/index type page. Eg the home page, or a page that lists threads and open a thread in new tab.

I've just tried this using Firefox, and it behaves the same as Safari with the link being opened in the current tab as well as creating a new tab and opening it there.

Just tried this on my Mac. OSX Lion.
Safari - works properly
Chrome - works properly
Firefox - works properly
So, I;d say it's not generic to Macs. More likely something odd about your config. I tried the untick "make new tab active" box, made no difference to the page that was loaded. Just didn't (or did) change the focus. ____
