I never scotch lock.
I always strip around 1 inch of insulation off the wire using a good wire stripper (one of those automatic stripper things plus a surgical blade to remove the bit of insulation), then solder the "tap" wire onto the other wire. Finally, cover everything up in self amalgamating tape and job's done.
99.9% reversible by cutting through the self amalgamating tape (good blade needed as it gets pretty tough when it cures), desoldering the joint and covering up again in self amalgamating tape again.
If you don't manage to find a fuse or something, consider this method. Bit more work, but ultimately more peace of mind in my opinion.Dennis

nighthawk, I agree I am not going to use the scotch lock method and will go down this route if I have to. I would however prefer to find a fuse to piggy back off of instead.MY17 D5 1st Edition Namib Orange

I've got a set of spotlights in the garage(only been there a year),I enquired at my local dealer about fitting them and the kit that they sell involves drilling holes in the bumper ...unless anybody has another idea Www.devonchilliman.co.uk

I have got a braket made up that fits onto the cross bars behind the grill then the grill goes on, and then the lights bolt to the bracket. It is not ideal but it is a lot less fuss than the bumper removal etc for the LR kit.
The issue I am having so far is finding the live feed to the main beam. tried yesterday with meter but could not find the live feed took headlamp out and tried via the plug that goes into the back but still no joy Not sure if it is something to do with the D4 electronics but expected to find a 12v supply when main beam on, but did not.
Anyone got any info on the MY12 D4 wiring for the headlightsMY17 D5 1st Edition Namib Orange

Bit of advice on soldering on cars.. always try and relieve the strain from the soldered joint by taping connections past the 'brittle' part of the cable
(this is where solder has tracked up the copper underneath the core insulation)
If you remove the cable flexibility with solder, the vibration and movement in a car can cause the soldered portion to crack or snap LR4 HSE 5.0 V8 Alaska White
