Driving with suspension in access height

Hi

I've got a few questions regarding said issue. (if in wrong sub-forum please move, sorry).

My suspension gave out an error and locked the vehicle in normal height mode (long story short). I tried to lower and raise the vehicle within the first 30 seconds of starting the engine (that's when the error is not shown yet). I was able to lower it, but couldn't raise it again - well, just a centimetre .. if at all.

Now, I am locked in access height and here go my questions:
Can I drive the car around like this? If I can, is there a maximum speed I must observe? Are there any mechanical problems/damages to be expected when driving around? (NB: the car hops around like an easter bunny when driven like this. Well, I had to drive the car home as I did this stupid experiment somewhere else.
I didn't find any mentions of this in the car's manual. However, the computer does raise the vehicle from access height when a certain speed limit is crossed for a certain amount of time.

Thanx, any feedback is appreciated.

I think your compressor has failed. Could also be the air dryer thats blocked or popped open, but if you say it raises a little bit then stops, then thats unlikely.

Bump stop driving

My suspension whent a few years back in cornwall, drove all the way back to sheffield on bump stops. After three months driving around like that, managed to get it fixed!!!
Felt every bump in the road, however had no long lasting troubles, car now done 160k, so dont worry too much.

NOT saying it is legal, or not dangerous. Just telling what happened to me.

Like Kev T said, you WILL feel every bump. I forgot to raise it once and couldn't figure out why the speed humps suddenly felt like 6 inch deep potholes. Once I got going it raised itself at which point the phrase 'Doh!' came into my mind. Embarassed

Well, it doesn't raise any more. Just this once right after I have lowered it.
It's annoying, since the compressor has been replaced less than a year ago!

However the 120k service is due, so the compressor's dryer should be checked and the silica beads replaced. We'll know then what's wrong with the suspension.

Thanx to kevin-t for laying my worries to rest. So I will use the car if need be and hope the roads aren't too bumby Smile
