Hi All,
I posted a topic yesterday 'Fault code PO625' Which was duly answed by Martin as being the Alternator.(thanks again for that Martin) I booked my Disco in with my local independent landrover garage for today and a genuine Landrover replacement was ftted. Total cost with part, labour & vat £384.34
I was informed after it had been fitted that there was another problem, one that this garage had never encountered before. There is a 400amp fuse fitted to the battery cable and this had blown. The alternator had dead shorted and blown this fuse. 400amp. Some fuse. Cost of replacement Battery Cable plus labour and vat £196.66.
Apparently this fuse so I am led to believe can only be purchased with the Battery Cable it is one item. I was very lucky as the mechanic had remembered replacing a Battery cable on another Disco for a very differnt reason and that fuse was intact. Job lot £50.00 fitted.
Is this really a fact, that 400amp fuse is not available as a seperate item from Land Rover. If it is, then that is some profit.

Hi all,
Yep I never saw that one coming.
Sorced the fuses on ebay, will be visiting my friendly independent LR garage when I get back from holiday.
But I must say he got me out of stook in a very quick time so I am not complaining to much.
Thanks for all your help.
Oh and one for' The Large One' do these fuses blow that often?????????????
