Have you tried taking the battery connectors off & shorting them together for a minute with a spanner or similar? Shot to nothing at least - it fixes a few other 'quirks'

Take the infotainment fuse out - think its 46, but best to check, or disconnect the battery, let the vehicle go to sleep (leaving for about 5 min.)
Then replace fuse/ reconnect and the Audio unit should go through a self check process.
Hopefully this will cure your issue.

Believe it is the way to do a hard re set. Was also suggested to me as my car thinks it is always 10.33am every minute of every day on the clock. (in its defence it gets it right once a day at least)
I think it is important that it is recognised not to short the actual battery terminals. would hurt somewhat

Thanks for the prompt reply guys this is something i will try out, being a locksmith and not an auto electrician am i likely to upset anything by taking the fuse out or disconecting the battery ? cheers

Sorry didn't mean to confuse - short the cables together, NOT the battery terminals
It'll not upset anything else (nor will taking a fuse out), if you want to convince yourself, search on here for hard reset & you should be convinced
Don't worry about a radio code either - there isn't one

hi folks, just thought that i would inform you brilliant masterminds out there that disconecting the battery for 1 hour did the trick !!! thank you once again for your expertise in disco 3 mending. it was nice to find that it was not the head unit as suggested by the stealers (god knows how much that would have been) its quite a common fault they informed me ! thanks again guys..
