Wow what a difference a little 2 stroke can make

I have now been putting 5ml of 2 stroke for every litre of diesel for the last 3 months. What a huge difference it has made. The engine is now really quiet no more clicky clacky sounds. It runs so smothly. The fuel consumption has really rocketed. I used to get around 23-25 miles per gallon. I just did a run from Southampton (queen elizabeth cruise) back to Blackpool with 2 up and 3 large cases mostly 70-80 in 4 1/2 hours. I got 32 miles to the gallon. This tip that was given to me by you guys is one that needs shouting about. I get my 2 stroke from tesco for about £5 for 1/2 litre. The main benefit seems to be how quite the engine is now. Very pleased......

What type of 2 stroke oil is it I.e. Tesco brand and is is mineral low ash type as several posts on here say you should not use synthetic high sulphur type.

Your next tip then is get some TSL oil and stick that in the engine and you will get a few more miles to the gallon...

Don't suppose it matters if it goes in before or after you fill up, what's the best way to get the right amount in, do the bottles have marks on the side?

Most have a vertical see through line with measurements along it.

If you add it at the pump, then before you fill up so the diesel
going in washes the oil into the tank and mixes it up a bit.

I use a cheap plastic measuring jug from tescos and put the oil in after I have filled up but i guess it makes not difference. 5ml for each litre of diesel

so is there any benefits to using 2 stroke over say Redex... i'v used iRedex for ages and it has a noted difference on fuel consumption and engine noise... certainly on my previous car, waiting to see how the D3 reacts
Why does every page of the manual have fingerprints?

Just got back from Sainsburys as I needed a few bits and a fill up. Had a quick look in the motoring section and the only 2 stroke they had was with a red dye in it. Didn't buy it, as wondered if your tank was dipped, would they think you'd got agricultural diesel in there?

Just been to Halfords for some 2 stroke oil and the best I could find said mineral formulation, is this the same as regular mineral or has it been interfered with?.

Been to a truck parts shop today in Immingham and picked up 5 litres of Comma 2 stroke oil, green died in case of fuel check by customs and excise, mineral, low ash for £18 for 5 litres. I was well happy with that, so bought 2 and a jug to dispense it with. Now just to wait and see for the results!
