Thanks Andi
Funny enough, I had the CV joints replaced 4 months ago. Maybe the instillation didn't go to plan...

Check the drive shafts are fully located into their respective diffs. I remember having a D3 with the report of intermitant loss of drive which turned out to be one of the rear drive shafts had come out of the diff & was only driving on the tips of the splines. It could cause the noise you are experiencing if it was slipping during acceleration.

Anyway last Saturday i dismantled the prop shaft and the mechanic found it to be in good condition. I am just going to wait for something to break or show me a clearer sign of what is spoilt!!
Wife advised "be gentle with the accelerator"

What about where the wheel drive shafts enter the front & rear diffs, are they secure & fully home ?

I have the same sound but happens randomly, always on acceleration but not just full throttle.
Was planning a gearbox double flush to try solve it.

Has their been eny solution to this noise?
I have jus bought a used 05 discovery tdv6 manual and have the exact same noise under hard acceleration in fist and second gears, I have been under the car and have noticed that my front propshaft has the cv joint on the front diff, and rubber rotoflex on the transfebox side.
All drive shafts look to be fully engaged, I have yet to drain and replace the driveline oils.
I managed to tow a two ton trailer from Scotland back to Holland without a fault, and will be making the trip again first week of August.
Any input or ideas would be most helpful.
Andrew.

I found the solution to my noise. It sounded exactly like the video clips. Turned out to be the transfer box. I replaced a CV, a wheel bearing and both front and rear propshafts and it was still there.
In the end, we put the car on a lift with all 4 wheels off the ground and ran through the gears. It was easy then to spot where the click was coming from. One recon transfer box full of astonishingly expensive LR oil later and no clicks and a considerably quieter transmission all round.

Thank you for that info, I was sort of hoping it would be a diff or something less expensive, though being a chaindrive transferbox I had the chain in the back of my mind.
I intend to do a full service shortly, hopefully the state of the various oils wil paint a better picture.
Thank you.
Andrew.
