Snow Chains 17in with GG AT2s

I have a 17inch GGAT2 255/65/17 and want to know what chains I can get away with. On my RRS I use the Thule K Summit kind so there is nothing on the inside wall of the tyre. I guess I have to because they are 275/45/20 and there is no clearance.

The Thule K Summit work ok in a straight line but I have a 3km uphill dirt track with 180 degree bends on and the Thule Summits often come off. They are not good chains.

So, on the Disco 3 can I use normal chains with a 255/65/17 ? The LR dealer wanted to sell me the Thule Summits but I declined.

Help!

Thanks

I use the Konig T2 no problems SUV for 245/65 R17 Nokian.

I have used them alot in anger, and I am happy with the results.

They are good chains just like with the Pewag ones.

Thanks Andy, i took a look at Pewag. Do you know if I can fit traditional chains though? From what the dealer said I need to have the Thule Summit types which has no chain on the inside of the wheel/tyre.

ask them why, then point them to this forum as there is many discussions regarding winter/snow chains here which may make them think the next answer Thumbs Up

with out information you cant make an educated decision, it's not about price but the whole safety issue against price; if you are happy with price then go for it; I would wait and look at the options
Very Happy
