Hmm, dunno, I guess they'd be the same but maybe someone with more clue about these things can answer that. In terms of the US you have more regs on new car sales but then in most (if not all, nowadays) states there is no equivalent to our MoT to check up that a car is road-worthy or legal, so you can bung on what you like.
You might need a different wiring loom for the xenons, as they are very high voltage, I don't know if they draw more power or have additional control units outside of the main headlamp unit itself.
I live in florida and we dont do any checks. you would be suprised at some of the stuff you see driving around.
Apparently non adaptives are a straight swap from what everyone on here says. They are more abundent on your side of the pond but I know because we drive on the other side we dip our lights the other direction as I would assume europe does too. Id like to but a set form the UK if I can I just dont want to blind people comming the other way and always get flashed to turn my brights off.

Replacmentxenon headlamp unit can be dropped straight in as the loom does not need any mod, the electronic ballast (xenon voltage control uni) is included in the lamp unit,
You will notice a slight flicker as you switch on a xenon unit that was swapped in for halogen unit, I led to believe that tis is because the supply power is FET controlled and switches in slower nad lower for halogen units by the D3, but has no long term detrimental effect AFAIK
The adaptive units that follow around bends do however need a whole load of extra tech to make them work, not just a swop and drop job

I've had my MY05 xenon's on my MY08 D3 for a year now and apart from the flickering (when cold started before engine on or immediately after engine on) they have been perfectly OK.
If you turn on the lights after a few seconds of engine going, no flicker at all.
Bulbs so far have done 4 years

Enable the Xeon setting with the like of Wigg's and his Faultmate and no more flickering, they just light up.
Had my 4x4 info centre etc activated as well as the headlamps and no more flickering. ATB
something i would also like to know ,as i tried putting my hands in to change the headlights,much stretching of arms and torn flesh ,i gave up ,how on earth are you supposed to find them anyway ,read the threads,looks like its off to france blinding french people along the way ,until at the campsite,more time then 2008 ,hse, it does what it says .

It's easy to take the lamps out, more complicated as I've got A bar fitted. Difficult at the mo as car at stealer. Mind you have set of halogens in junk room, will have a look after finish vino.
PS just looked, as suspected no adjustment on halogens. SWMBO just told me off for leaving headlamp unit in middle of living room floor!

Still a little unsure - on the head light question
Just read all the above - my car is a 55 Hse - So its got XENONs but I don't think they are the type that swivel as you steer - I thought that came in on later models - does that mean I just need to stick stickers on....?

NON adaptive Xenons have the leaver as i changed mine when i went to France last month.

So, may seem like a daft question. With having an A-Frame is it just a case of removing the two top brackets to the grill? If I do that will I have enough room to drop the grill forward and then get the lights out.
With having the winch remote connector attached to the grill I don't believe I can easily fully remove the grill.
I assume I would then have to remove the light guards before I eventually remove the lights.
