Heater problems
Hi ihave a disco 3 2005 se tdv6,
i have a dual control heater problem,
it heats up passenger side ok but driver side stays cold all the time,
anyone got any ideas ?

Hi Lefty and welcome to the forum. The HEVAC actuators can go out of cal and stop the hot air getting through to where it is needed.
First try a HEVAC reset:
With ignition off press and hold the ECON & RECIRC buttons whilst turning ignition on (no need to start car).
The control module will then compare the current HEVAC actuator motor positions with the values stored in the module and will indicate an error by flashing the ECON LED.
If there are no errors, the LED will go out and the system will function normally.
To confirm that there are no errors, turn the ignition switch to the OFF position, then back to the ON position.
Observe the operation of the programmed defrost LED.
If there are errors present, the programmed defrost LED will flash and the system will attempt to calibrate itself.
Post results on here!
If your actual symptoms include starting warm on the drivers side and then going cold then we will go down a different path and start talking foam socks on thermistors...?

or the actuator motors that control the dampers are faulty. They're not easy to get to, but I've had to do two (on the same side but at different times). PM me if you want the manual I made whilst doing it.

Thanks for the tip about trying to reset the HEVAC but unfortunately worked this hasnt worked,
also it doesnt heat up then go cold it just stays cold all the time,
maybe it is the actuator motor that is faulty,
NickJ could you send me the manual if poss,

Hi all,
Think I have an actuator problem on the passenger side as its cold and drivers side is roasting. Can anyone send a guide on how to get at them to fix or replace please? I cant pm as I have enough posts as of yet. Cheers for any advice

Partially blocked heater core is the most likely cause. (new core) Diagnostics will confirm if the blend motor is operating correctly.
Some have had measured success with flushing out the core, others no joy at all.yµ (idµ - eAµ) ψ=mψ

As Prof G suggested it is most likely to be a partially blocked heater core/matrix.
If you do a search on here for Heater Matrix there are lots of useful tips but it will probably need a new matrix to resolve the problem.Uncle Ray's spare wheel protector

My passenger side had no heat at all and the driver's side didn't get too warm either. Last weekend I managed to get round to using the flushing gun I purchased as it was cheap enough that if it didn't work I hadn't lost too much money before opting for a new heater matrix.
After blasting the top heater hose (outlet) a few times and watching debris flowing out of the clear hose I'd connected to the lower hose (inlet) I thought it looks like it's working. Swapped hoses around and blasted the other way, then repeated a further back flush.
Replenished the coolant with 50/50 mix and after a few minutes the cabin was been fed with hot air from all vents both sides.
Well chuffed and glad I'd found another use for my compressor that I only inflated my tyres with occasionally

Hi guys,
I also have a heating issue on my 2005 TDV6 SE.
It is cool on the passenger side and cold/cool on the driver side.
I tried the calibration and it did not change a thing.
Can you please send me the info to get to the actuators and heater core ?

S3, take off road, break, repair, repeat. Gone

Iv got the blaster just need some spare time to give it a go, iv been replacing lower control arms and brakes which seemed a bit more important to me but not the wife shivering in the passenger seat

Hi Rocksteadee,
I openned the hoses in the engine compartment. Cycle water and then air backwards and then forwards for a few times. I collected the outlet into a bucket. The was not so much dirt getting out.
Flushed the cleaning water a last time with compressed air, but the hoses back in place. Started the engine, purged the cooling fluid.
Now, it heats correctly.
